Newsletter 20th of March 2013

Hej (I believe this is Swedish for Hello)

Just a few quick things this week. Our next connect will not be on Thursday the 4th of April, it will be on the 11th of April. This is so that we are holding it straight after the GRS Orientation for HDR students. Evidently the GRS orientation for new HDR student is on the 11th of April.

The PSA’s first Professional Development seminar ran yesterday. We had a pretty good turn out, and a lot of delicious cake. Thank you to everyone who attended. If you were interested in the seminar on IP & Commercialisation and could not come, the slides and handouts are available electronically- let me know if you are interested in them.

If you are interested in attending Holi with a group of friends- let the PSA’s international officer (Jenny 21061868@student.uwa.edu.au) know.

Finally the PSA is still looking for a few members for our committee. If you come from the Faculties of Education, or Science and want to be the PSA Faculty representative for your Faculty- please apply! We are also still looking for an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Officer. Information about what these positions require are on our website- www.psa.guild.uwa.edu.au.

Happy Thursday!
Gemma

Reminders:

Check your student email!! Your student email is where the university communicates with you.

Check that and StudentConnect at least once a week to ensure that you don’t have any outstanding fines, fees, milestones which might lead to an encumbrance – this would prevent the automatic re-enrolment of research students! Bad times for everyone.

Do you want to put a notice in the newsletter? You should email me! I’ll plug most things related to postgrads, professional development, and activities. Newsletter day is currently Wednesday, so email two sentences and any links to psa@guild.uwa.edu.au  by 9am on Wednesday to be included!
